Windows Theme

Personalize the visual aesthetic of your Windows system. Quickly switch between light and dark modes, adjust transparency effects, and synchronize your wallpaper for a cohesive look.

ℹ️ Theme Consistency

When switching themes in Winhance, you can choose to automatically apply a matching wallpaper for a perfectly cohesive look.

Windows 11 Wallpapers:

  • Light Mode: C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg
  • Dark Mode: C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\img19.jpg

Windows 10 Wallpaper:

  • Default: C:\Windows\Web\4K\Wallpaper\Windows\img0_3840x2160.jpg
⚠️ Setting Persistence

Settings found in the Customizations view are not persistent. Winhance applies these changes once, but it does not use background tasks to re-apply them if they are changed later by Windows or by you manually.

Windows Theme

Choose your mode theme-mode-windows

Choose between Light and Dark mode for Windows and apps. This setting affects both the Windows shell (taskbar, Start Menu) and supported applications.

Options: Light Mode, Dark Mode

Note: Winhance also supports detecting a "Custom" state where apps and system use different themes.

Registry Values Explained:

  • AppsUseLightTheme: Controls the theme for Windows apps (UWP apps, Settings, etc.)
  • SystemUsesLightTheme: Controls the theme for Windows shell (taskbar, Start Menu, notification center)
Transparency effects theme-transparency

Enable translucent effects for the Start Menu, taskbar, and other Windows interface elements. This includes acrylic blur effects on Windows 10 and mica effects on Windows 11.

Note: Disabling transparency can improve performance on lower-end hardware.
